A shoephoric Street Party: The ASD ON 63RD ST Recap Part 1
Tuesday, 06, November, 2018

Nothing can beat the sheer ecstasy that was building up in the morning of October 27 in Makati as we arrived at the venue for the epic event that was ASD ON 63RD ST. The venue was packed with attendees and the who's who of the scene as early as 10 AM. The overall vibe brewing that morning was of gargantuan proportions and we were bracing ourselves!

The Major Sponsors

Upon entering the event premises there was a mist of shoephoric goodness in the air. We got FILA with a wall full of goodies both current and classic releases, the best of all is the wall of samples that gave the attendees a glimpse and more stuff to look forward to. From the Disruptors down to the low cut casuals, FILA's got it on lock. Those Staple collabs look sick.

PONY hailing from the streets were unrivaled in urban cred as they had a display that screamed out their legacy and their contemporary power. From dressing up local influencers and musicians, their brand defines a legacy that knows no bounds.

Skechers are definitely purveyors of the old and the new school with the chunkiest pairs on the block. They put up a killer display which showcased their latest retroes as well as teasers on what's to be excited about for the coming months!

Sperry showcased some comfy casuals which were veered for a more street oriented crowd. Definitely turned heads that day! Full on comfort perfect for long casual strolls or your next nautical adventure!

Definitely not a newcomer to the scene, Saucony got in with some killer displays and samples that are brewing some anticipation from the three dot fans in attendance. They got some vintage models and some new school ones that can be acquired online or through their branches. You should experience them ASAP!

When it comes to sneaker/shoe maintenance, Clyde Shoe Cleaner definitely has it on lock. Their setup was composed of their bestsellers and new offerings. They've got some interesting ones like the leather lotion and some anti-odor products. They even offered demos for the day so you can see how effective they really are!

The #WEARESHOEPHORIC Photo Exhibit

Of course, the #WEARESHOEPHORIC Photo Exhibit as assembled by our friends from Avant Auctions definitely drew attention in a very gallery-like set up. These shots were epic and were on display for everyone to see. Every finalist poured their shoephoric souls into it and the vibe was infectious.

Congratulations to the following:

GRAND WINNER: Cheng Ortaleza "2016 ACRNM"

1ST RUNNER UP: Dex Laxamana "Untitled"

2ND RUNNER UP: Victor C Pacursa "VendettaDXB"

MEMBER'S CHOICE AWARD: Victor C Pacursa "VendettaDXB"

The Merchants

Of course, we didn't just display stuff for our party! We had our merchant friends put up their wares just in time for some early shoephoric Christmas shopping!

The likes of FILA, Diamond Sneaks, YUX, SKOOP, Soleslam, Sneakerlab, KicksToGo, Foot Ideals, Cop Garden, Seasonpass, SYF, Trilogy Merch, SNS, Kicks To Kicks, REMS Shoe Cleaner, Nevertheless, Clyde Shoe Cleaner and Out Of The Box got the attendees shelling out some serious cash for some neat finds!

The Workshops

One of the most anticipated parts of the day was the shoephoric workshops which were composed of three key ingredients. Customization, Restoration and Cleaning/Maintenance. They also offered hints on those getting started on their chosen field.

First up was IED Customs by James Dycoco with Style your Kicks and Kaserola Customs which showed those in attendees the basics of customizing your pair. He used a pair of FILAs for customization!

PONY Philippines provided canvas shoes for the customizers in the making. The best of all, the workshop attendees got to take home their masterpieces as keepsakes!

RG Skills of Solevation took the floor with much zeal as he showed the blueprint on how to restore much loved classics. This included replacing the midsoles on the Jordan 3 as they are known to crumble over time. Now, thanks to restorers like him, classics like these can be revived with a little know how.

Taking a break from their booth time was Clyde Shoe Cleaner who showed some insights on starting your own sneaker cleaning business. It was perfect for those who wanted to venture into such category. They even had the figures to back it up. inspiring and definitely a breath of fresh air!

The Performers

Of course the day wouldn’t be as epic if not for our wicked performers!

Pogiboi and Nial Jager brought the house down with newschool beats and dope rhymes.

TPM got us to groove with them with a short but sweet dance number!

Just Washington dropped some urban pine city tales along with some crowd participation fun!

FILA'd from the feet up, Al James killed it with his popular hits along with a couple of new bangers much to the delight of the crowd.

DB left us all in awe with her extensive poetry and prose! Lastly Raf Davis showcased his brand of newschool hiphop... watch out!

The Host

Going above and beyond the call of duty is our host for the event, Mr. WooHooligan himself! Ralph Porteria. An esteemed sneakerhead himself, he was the voice for everything that took place all throughout the day! From the voiceovers, to assisting the shoe customizers and the spontaneous interviews with the winners as well as hyped introductions for the performers, you will be seeing more of him with shoephoric soon!

TKTBOSS

Also, TKTBOSS was there to make sure that the attendees experienced full VIP entrance to tide them through the event. The early VIP Ticket buyers enjoyed full access as well as their own limited edition #ASDON63RDST shirts!

All this took place during daytime and it was quite a handful! Imagine if ASD ON 63RD ST was lit, you should see how we partied come nighttime! (To be continued...)
