It's pretty much a debate as to where the legendary BAPE AKA A Bathing Ape is truly headed. Heralded as one of the pillars of streetwear with their star branded Air Force 1's rocked by Pharrell Williams and Kanye West, the brand has been a mainstay in the scene and has caused a "love it or you don't status" among the old school and new school heads which has elevated its appeal and mystique even further.
Here, what you see is somewhat of a juxtaposed pair that brings a lot of debate fodder. The BAPE Sk8 Sta is dubbed as the lovechild of the Bapesta, and the Nike Dunk SB and a little bit of the classic Terminators. Wrapped in full green BAPE camo regalia, the look is classic BAPE with a twist as it obviously leans more on the thinner profile that's popular among skaters. The garterized tongue section gives more hug on the wearer's feet sans the fat tongues.
A mix of fine leather and camo ripstop material, we are given a shoe that's a party in the print department without being too loud and overbearing because of its earthy military nature, released in 2011, this shoe is pretty hard to come by nowadays but is a guaranteed neckbreaker as it is a sly combination that brings the hype of BAPE and the functionality and the streetwise toughness of the SB Dunk.
Pairs like this bring more street cred to the plate more than anything else.Love it or hate it but the brand and the shoe is turning more tables and ruffling more feathers with its loud primal appeal.
Oh, have you seen the upcoming Nike Air Max 97's? They are fire!
