Vans Goes Van Gogh
Thursday, 02, August, 2018

Vans releases a new collaboration in partnership with Van Gogh Museum, highlighting Van Gogh’s many influential works. The Skull, Almond Blossom, Sunflowers, as well as his self-portrait were some of his artworks that served as an inspiration for this collection. Adriaan Dönszelmann, Managing Director of the Van Gogh Museum, mentioned in his interview with Vans that the museum’s goal is to make the life and work of Van Gogh accessible to many people to be able to enrich and inspire them.

The collection also highlights “Old Vineyard and Peasant Woman” painting on a special edition Old Skool and Classic Slip-on, which also showcases excerpts from handwritten letters of Van Gogh to his brother, Theo, which were chosen among 700 letters sent to him. The shoes also features custom insoles that accentuates Van Gogh’s signature brush strokes alongside Vans and Van Gogh Museum’s logo.

The collection drops on August 3 along with merchandise such as long sleeves, tees, and jackets for all ages. Special edition officially license Samsonite luggages inspired by the “Almond Blossom” painting can be exclusively picked up at the Amsterdam store. The rest of the collection will be made available at select Vans retail stores as well as vans.com/vangogh. Priced around $40 to $140, it only seems like a small price to pay to somehow acquire one of the artist’s paintings as your own! Part of the proceeds from the collaboration will be given to Van Gogh Museum.
