Spotlighted by Nike’s UNDERCOVER collab, the React Element 87 fast became a sought after pair by sneaker enthusiasts. Featuring Nike’s newest React foam technology, the midsole provides the shoe with superior cushioning. Nike believes it’s perfect for the urban commute.
The shoe sports a deconstructed, avant-garde look with the likes of Alexander Wang and Virgil Abloh – a translucent textile upper and exposed stitching can be observed, as well as contrasting exterior heel taping and trail running laces. Being designed for casual wear and giving off a futuristic, technical vibe at the same time seems to have caught everyone’s eye. Not to mention that it’s almost like having Jun Takahashi’s collab with Nike, but only without the UNDERCOVER branding on the side.
The shoe released last June 24 in Europe, United Kingdom, and Asia for only USD 160 in various colorways in Nike stores and select retailers. It sold out like hotcakes and it’s already going for around $400! We believe this drop might have even overshadowed the release of Off White x Jordan 1 UNC Blue, which only released globally the day before. Its predecessors price have skyrocketed to almost $2,000 but it seems to be only going for half of that in the local scene.
We think it’s important to note that everytime you wear a different pair of colored socks with it, it’s as if it becomes an entirely new colorway. Take a look at Nike’s newest release and let us know which would you have rather copped!
