We all need at least one pair of classics. Once a shoe beats all odds, they become an icon of style. They’re immune to the ever changing trends. PONY is a brand that proves this.
The once underground brand from New York City has been hitting the streets since 1972. Now they’re an eminent urban lifestyle brand respected all over the world. If there is a city there is PONY. Their Archive Collection is strong, with little changes and upgrades for the past decades.
Last year we first tried on the PONY City Wings in their all new tan leather. It became a much loved pair that satisfied both our love for retro silhouettes and on-trend nude colorway.
Now we got our hands in a more all-American classic feel, the PONY Top Star ’77 in white and red. The leather sneakers first made its debut as a basketball shoe for NBA Players and professional athletes back in the days, a few years after this low cut version paved way for everyone to play in – both on wooden court and on concrete.
The PONY Top Star low-top is a blast from the past. Every detail was preserved to be exactly the same as its release in 1977. The pristine all-white leather uppers with its stitched chevron, down to its embroidered tag were kept to its original design.
Beyond its heritage style, the Top Star provides a comfortable ride thanks to its cushioned footbed and padded tongue and collar. Its sleek white outsoles shouldn’t be underestimated. Its non-slip bottom has been tried and tested on wet surface, and it doesn’t disappoint.
PONY Top Star is all about real grit than hype. Snag a pair at PONY.com, and locally at PONY.com.ph for Php 3,895. For more info follow PONY Philippines at facebook.com/PonyPH and @pony_ph on Instagram.
