Mexican tattoo art legend Mister Cartoon has another collaboration up with Nike that pays tribute to L.A. culture with the classic Cortez shoe. Nike allowed Cartoon AKA Mark Machado to add his trademark concept art to three Cortez silhouettes. Cartoon’s Cortez collection features a white, navy, and black model — every shoe carrying a look and feel courtesy of the world recognized tattoo artist.
Each pair comes with a CTOONS piece and every shoe has a nice look that has a stand alone feel to it. The black pair has an Old English lettering, the white has a "Cortez" tooling in cursive and the black and white versions have a 45h anniversary tag on the tongue. The navy pair boasts of a quilted pattern that is reminiscent of the stitching found on the inside of a Chevy Impala.
The said capsule collection will launch at Nice Kick’s DTLA store this July 13 before being made available for $120 USD via the nike site, SNKRS app and select Nike stockists on July 14.
Are you looking for a nice twist on the cortez? Then the NikeLab Cortez '72 AKA "The Un-Forrest Gump" is a must see for you.
