ASICS Tiger “Ranru” Pack Gel-Lyte III
Friday, 30, June 2017

ASICS Tiger embraces the love of heritage. Fresh from their release of the Kalinga Tribe inspired ASICS Tiger X Common Wealth “Kultura”, the athletic brand debuts another impressive cultural inspired design.

Focusing on their Japanese roots, ASICS Tiger releases their GEL-LYTE III “Ranru” pack, a beautifully crafted design that features denim patchworks that represent the traditional Japanese boro. The boro textile exemplifies the nineteenth-century garments made from sewn scraps of fabric or ranru. It was revered as a rural way of life when indigo dyed hemp cloth was more available than cotton. Now the boro epitomized the Japenese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi, the concept of imperfect beauty.

The GEL-LYTE III “Ranru” pays perfect homage to this culture with its full patch laden upper. Varied textures of stripes and washed denim are sewn together with rough stitching to give off a charming hand-crafted appeal. To balance its strong design, the white midsoles and gum outsoles was kept simple with a retro vibe.

The new ASICS Tiger collection is currently available in Peacoat and Indigo Blue denim on and select ASICS stockists worldwide. In the Philippines, you can find the GEL-LYTE III “Ranru” at The Outlet People in Glorietta and Limited store in Uptown BGC and Eastwood.

Extending to the brand’s family, the I Love Ugly X Onitsuka Tiger Colorado Eighty-Five MT Samsara is also a creative design to check out.
