adidas is making waves to transform marine plastic pollution into high performance sportswear. After the launch of the adidas by Stella McCartney X Parley comes another release with Parley of The Oceans. This time the collaboration aims to raise awareness with coral bleaching – a condition where corals undergo severe stress from global warming and marine pollution.
adidas took three of their leading runners and infused it with Parley Ocean Plastic™ technology. An average of 11 plastic bottles per pair was used on the upper material of the UltraBOOST, UltraBOOST X and UltraBOOST models. To complete its sustainable construction the runners also feature laces, heel webbing, heel counter, heel lining and sock liner covers all made from recycled PET materials.
Its unique porous upper in bleached white blue is symbolic to the white flag to the oceans. The collection is a medley of function and style with a definitive purpose.
Parley X adidas UltraBOOST “Coral Bleaching” pack will drop in the U.S on June 8, while the worldwide release will follow on June 28.
