Commonwealth and ASICS have recently collaborated on a special sneaker that pays a nod to the fine culture of skin artistry via the GEL-Lyte V “Kultura,” which means “culture.” This special collaboration pays tribute to the Kalinga, an ethnic group in the Philippines who reside the mountains of Luzon and have remained true and solid to their roots and culture even in the face of the Spanish, American and Japanese invaders.
The shoe features a one-piece tongue, GEL-cushioned midsole, nubuck, suede and mesh uppers and tattoo/ethnic artwork that is strategically placed onto the shoe.
Dropping this April 7, 2017 at Commonwealth locations and April 14 at ASICS Shops worldwide, this shoe is Philippine sneaker history in the making. If you're copping, best make the necessary arrangements because these are promising.
If you're into Philippine inspired sneakers, then maybe the Philippines Air Force Ones may be one of your grails.
