From skaters, to collectors, to the fashion forward and the hoarders, Nike Dunk SB remains to be an iconic brand that will go down in history as one of the best breakthroughs ever. Starting as a mere division for Nike as its pesky skate brother, it has proven a lot more.

Started out in 2001 as a beefed up version of the classic Nike Dunk with a puffed up tongue and zoom air unit insole, it has caused a frenzy too many among collectors and streetwear OG's.

Supreme made it possible to create hype sans social media back then as they flipped the classic cement print from the Jordan 3 onto a dunk. It was a silent success and no branding was even present on the actual shoe. If you knew, then you knew.

Release Date: June 2002

Skate brands Zoo York and Chocolate paved the way for more collaborations. They were iconic in their own right as they were made under the 500 pair run. They are pretty hard to come by now as they were kind of slept on back then with Supreme getting all the attention. Who knew right?

Reese Forbes Denim

One of the most iconic in the list is the Diamond Supply Co. Dunk AKA The Tiffany created by Nick Tershay. It marked a new era for the brand as it was the shoe to have in any hardcore dunk collector's lineup.

Futura, SBTG and Pushead were among those to push the envelope of what a dunk is supposed to be like by adding more graphics and materials, not to mention the loud colorways that drove everyone crazy.

And yes, movie icons like Freddy Krueger were immortalized onto the Dunk causing much hype and controversy as the pair was pulled out because of legal issues.

Heineken

Color: Classic Green/Black/White/Red

Style: 304292-302

Release Date: June 2003

Beer brand Heineken wasn't happy with their shoe either. But a lot were stoked on them.

With all the hype surrounding other thinner and more streamlined creations now, the question still stands if the Nike Dunk SB can make another wave in this age of minimalism and quick changing trends. One thing's for sure, many stand by the brand and pairs will continue to be flipped like limited edition paintings, after all, the Dunk is a work of art.

Cheers to more killer dunks for the Shoephorics in us!
