1970s New York City is a time and place like no other. The city owes much of its tough urban persona to this down and dirty decade. During those days there was only one rule - to stay on your feet.
With the empire city and its people in mind, it was then that PONY emerged. New Yorkers easily embraced the brand that speaks of the grit of their everyday lifestyle.
Fast forward to today PONY stands tall as a brand staple to all urbanites from all over the world. Iconic sneakers such as the Top Star ’77 and City Wings from their Archive collection have been part of the lifestyle of several generations. The time tested model has kept its silhouette over the years with a few iterations with material and colorway. The latest is the City Wings Khaki, a fresh take constructed with a full leather upper and geared with gum soles.
Similar to Vans Old Skool Vachetta Tan, the City Wings Khaki keeps to a nice sleek look. The City Wings features a fully uniformed colorway from its leather upper, laces, midsoles, down to its very stitching. Its hot pink embroidered tongue tag is the only pop color you’ll see in the shoe. The pair does come with matching hot pink laces, but we like to keep it low key for a relaxed feel.
The City Wings Khaki are women exclusive shoes, although we have met a couple of men who were lucky enough to fit in the larger sizes. After all, the City Wings is a unisex silhouette. You can grab your pair now at PONY Pop Up Store in Trinoma (better hurry, it’s up until February 15!), PONY.com.ph, Complex Lifestyle Stores, SM Departments and in select leading malls.
